First off, Mark Hamill, Michael Dorn, and John de Lancie (to name a few) lent their unique voices to the game. Game play is the same vibe as the original Master of Orion with some new stuff, like a 3D real time combat system.
I was having some trouble unlocking the race specific achievements via Steam, so I did some Google’ing and figured out what exactly I needed, so figured I would share the knowledge:

The above article helped me out the most in determining which achievements I had attained, so I knew which ones to focus on.
- Go to the Master of Orion log file within Steam. Mine was located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Master of Orion\<date>\output_log.txt
- Open the log file in your favorite text editor (Notepad++ is a great free one) and search for the phrase, “Master of orion achievement stats”.
From here, you can make a grid of all the achievements to you know which ones to focus on:

DIPLOMATIC – All other races in play vote you as their leader. Suggestion, usually a bribe can make this happen.
ECONOMIC – Must have a good sized empire, and the stock exchanges in play, so I recommend doing an advanced start on easy and snag a bunch of stocks. Before getting the economic one – save the game and then sell your stock and push for the Technological one too!
EXCELLENCE – This is an endurance test, make it to turn 500 and win by council vote.
CONQUEST – Defeat all opponents in play. Usually set to 1 AI on a small map on easy; can usually KO that AI pretty quick.
TECHNOLOGICAL – Build the 3 structures necessary to transcend the material plane of existence.
